Eco Council

This year the Eco Council along with Mrs Brown and Miss Williams have really been working hard to move the school's environmental issues forward.

All children and staff helped to transform the school on ECO DAY. The children worked hard all day long learning to plant, selecting the right place for each plant - shade, full sun etc.. The children with Mr Sharp planted fruit and vegetable plants, while the older children designed and painted a wildlife eco mural in the school. Check out the link to learn more about what happened.

GREEN FLAG AWARD
It is a requirement for the Silver award and Green Flag that the school has agreed, adopted and displayed an Eco-Code. The Eco-Code is your mission statement. It should demonstrate, in a clear and imaginative way, your school’s commitment to improving its environmental performance.

Having all agreed what an Eco Code is and what it should encompass - the children were set the task of designing a code for our school.
Our Eco Code was designed by Sophie in Year 4. Well done Sophie.

Green Flag criteria

The school has identified an Action Team which has met on at least six occasions. The Action Team has the support of a parent and/or governor. Pupils take significant responsibility for the running of the Action Team.
The school has completed a formal Environmental Review, recorded the results and undertaken a follow-up review.
The school has produced a detailed Action Plan, including timescales and targets, shared the plan with the school community and updated it based upon the follow-up review.
The school has identified progress towards achieving most targets in the Action Plan.
The school has obtained physical evidence of their progress, including data collection and analysis (graphs, etc).
The school has identified substantial progress towards one large-scale project and indicated involvement with two others. ‘Identified substantial progress’ means that the school has an understanding of the project topic, recognises its importance to sustainable development within the school environment and wider community and has implemented change.
The school has a prominent, designated noticeboard, web pages or newsletter which details Eco-Schools activities. Eco-Schools activities are reported in assemblies and at governors’ meetings, as well as being regularly communicated to parents and the wider community.

The school can indicate that environmental issues have been covered in at least three curriculum areas by most year groups.
The school is mainly litter-free. Assessors visiting a school will pass schools that achieve a Grade B or above for litter.

Nestle Box Top Book Tokens

We are collecting book tokens from packets of Nestle cereals and cereal bars, which we can use to buy new books for school.
The collection box can be found in Class 1.

Inside the Classroom

You would not believe the work that we get through each day, it not all play but believe us when we say that the saying "play is child's work" is very true.

Mr Sharp and the staff have been working very hard over the past 18 months to create an environment which reflects the ethos of the new Foundation Phase curriculum and we are very proud of what we have achieved so far but it is the children that drive the learning from this.

We hope that these pages will help illustrate the variety of activities that all the children are part of!

Glan Llyn

The Glan Llyn Trip 2009 Year 5 and 6 waited in our class on the day we were going to Glan Llyn. We were very excited. We all left at half past nine. On the bus we made some new friends, Andrew from another school and Devon, but I knew Devon from football. I was sitting by Jacob on the bus. We got there and we put all our luggage in the hall. The lady gave us a little talk and they put us into groups. I was lucky. I was with Ryan, Owen and Jacob The bell went so we all went to the hall. The lady said that group Arenig would go bowling and that was me. I got 74 pins down! After that I asked Mr Davies, my group leader, what we were doing next and he said, ‘The ropes’. The ropes were up in the trees. We were shown how to put on a harness and a helmet. There was a rope assault course and a parachute jump. I did the rope assault course and I went up first. It was a bit scary but I got used to it. There was a wire running through the assault- course , every time I got to a bit where you have to balance I just hung on to the rope that was holding me up from the harness so I could balance. After we got back from this it was Dinner time it was curly fries and a hot-dogs . Then Owen and me went and bought 8 cans of fizzy pop for a midnight feast. After Dinner we had half an hour to do what we wanted. I rolled down the huge hill. The bell ran again and the lady said that our group were doing the quiz and the other group were doing the mini-games of sport. The quiz was in a big hall with a screen to see the questions. I was with Josh, Joe, Zeke , Jacob , Owen and me! We were called PENTRE!!!. At about 8 o clock a line dancing woman came in (I was bad just to tell you) and she taught us some line dancing that went on for ages! Finally on that day we went to bed but Ryan kept us up all night. We had a midnight feast, sweets and pop. Owen and Ryan put chocolate in Jacob’s ear when he was sleeping. He woke up and there was melted chocolate all over him. When we woke in the morning we were really tired. The bell woke us. I knocked on Zeke’s door to check the time. Breakfast was toast and coco pops because we missed the brunch. We had a play and bought more pop for that night. The first activity was raft building. Ours failed and went well. It floated for a while and then the lady pulled us in because we were going to drift off. A bit of water came in. We all jumped in the lake. This made us wet so we needed to change. We then went rowing with a teacher from another school. Mr Davies and his gang beat us they were like the Olympic team. We were like drowning cats. We didn’t need to get changed because it was not wet, so we took a 10 minutes break. I got into my water proof stuff to go canoeing. We talked about the Indians inventing the canoe. We canoed to the small Island that was by the place where we were staying. And the man said that there was a monster called Teged the lochness monster’s cousin and we put our head in the water to shout him and when we got our head back out we had to say, “ You are worth it”, in an American accent. We had to flick our hair back like a girl. We spent time with our friends and then we queued up for tea. It was French bread with cheese. Supper was a turkey dinner. The roast potatoes were a bit soggy but it was good enough for me! After the dinner there was a big disco. Mr Jones and Mr Davies were the DJs. They were not cool. That night we talked for a bit and made each other laugh. We drifted off to sleep except for Ryan and we didn’t put chocolate in Jacob’s ear. We had a good sleep and woke for brunch. Sir came and inspected our rooms and then we went on the bus to Bala. We went around the shops and Josh and Joe had chips. Everyone was moaning because we wanted some as well but we had chips for lunch at Glan Llyn so that was OK. We said goodbye to Glan Llyn. I learnt a lot of Welsh. My best bit was the rope course because it was scary but when I did it I thought it was fun. I had a really good time in Glan Llyn Donovan Evans

if you want your children to come to pentre school it is a lovley place, ther is lots of nice kids ther are 4 proper teachers ther.The teachers are called mr sharp,mr Jones,mrs brown and mrs surgo. Mr jones is the head master.	mr sharp is the teacher of the lil class he made the tuck shop in our school which the manger is Karlie and the retared assistants Robyn and Melanie....ok that is mostlee all you need to now about pentre school we hope we see you ther... oh and Robyn did this by the way robyn.L.Edwards.:) :) :) :) :) :) :) please do come

Hi, my name is Bruce Bear and I live in Class 1 at Pentre School. The classroom is so lovely (and they have so many things to play with!) but it does get so lonely at night.

Luckily I have some wonderful friends who take me to their houses for tea. We have so much fun that I thought I would tell you all about it.

Wednesday 14th January 2009
I am really excited today, my friend SR has said that she will take me home for tea. Its been such a long time since I left the class and I hope that I remember how to behave! I have packed my new diary for SR to write about our adventure in. We played so many games and her sister DR was really nice too me too. My favourite game was cards. SR and Dad are big Liverpool fans - just like Mr Sharps' brother and I got to wear SR' Liverpool top, it was nice but a little too big for me! Mum and Dad made me a lovely tea and wrapped me up warm for the night so that I was not scared. As you can see I had a bit of an accident and I poured my cereal on mu head, mum was very nice and didn't shout at me. I can not wait to come to SR' house again - thank you for having me stay.

Thursday 15th January 2009
My friend CK invited me back to her house tonight - I remember goint there last year and she had lots of teddy bear friends for me too play with! We had lots of fun again, whilst CK was brushing her teeth I had a jump on her bed, I nearly hit my head on the ceiling! Before we went to sleep CK read me a story - she has got really good with her reading and I was very impressed. I hope I can come and play again soon.

Friday 16th, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th January 2009
I was really lucky to go home with my friend JB this weekend, his family were really kind to me and made me feel really welcome. We played on a Nintendo Wii which I really liked, especially Wii Fit (that's my new favourite game!). JB is really good at the hula hooping!
On saturday we went for tea at some relatives house. It was really tasty and I had a big bear belly by the end. JB introduced me to everyone and we all had a really good time.
On sunday we went to church. I like it alot, its very different to Mr Rees' church and there was a whole band there. I got to have a go on the drums. I really like them but it was hard with my short bear arms. JB's dad is really good - I can't wait until I can go to JB's house again so I can have some more lessons.

Tuesday 20th January 2009
Today IPW said tha he would like me to come to his house for tea. I am very excited as I get to see my old friend AW (who has moved to the next class now!). We had a great time and evertone was very ind. There were lots of scary animals there like spiders and snakes - it's lucky Mr Sharp didn't come to visit as he is scared of snakes!
We had a loveky tea and then we played with some teddies for a while before bed. I hope I can come to play again reall soon IPW?

Wednesday 21st January 2009
My friend FE took me home today and guess what ... his mummy is a teacher, just like Mrs Sharp! I had a great time. We played spaceships, we made them first out of Lego and then we got to play with them. I love Lego and think it is really clever what you can make with it.
I played with FW's cat whilst he brushed his teeth and then we snuggled up for the night to sleep. It's very tiring travelling to all these new houses all the time but I love seeing all my friends. See you soon FW.

Thursday 22nd January 2009
Today I went home with JJ which is really exciting as he lives with HJ who is also my friend so I got to spend time with them both, even more exciting was that LW (who is also a friend of mine) was coming over to play! We had such a great time and we really enjoyed ourselves. We played on Sky games, my favourite is Beehive Bedlam (which is also Mrs Sharps' favourite) and then we watched some cartoons.
We had some lovely fish for our tea and then it was time to change for bed. It has been a really long day and such fun, I hope to come and play again real soon.

Friday 23rd January 2009
Today I got the chance to go to HG house, I went there last year and really enjoyed it ... and my other friend CG lives there too. I got the chance to feed the fish which I really liked, I spent along tiome just watching them swimming around in the water and playing games. They looked really happy. We had a lovely tea and then I listened to HG read her school book, I was so pleased with her hard work.
The best bit of the night was when we all sat down as a family and watched American Idol, I laughed really hard - it reminded me of when we did the X Factor at Pentre School.
I had such a lovely time, I hope its not too long before I can come to stay again.

Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January 2009
I am super excited today as I get to spend the weekend with my little friend LT, he was so happy that I got to go tho his house and he told everyone he met about me. I really enjoyed the car ride and was pleased to see that LT is a good boy and wears his seat belt. We played alot of trains, which is lucky as they are my favourite and LT told me all about Thomas the Tank Engine and what he likes to do.
Nan had me, LT and his little brother JT over to play and she was really nice to me, I am glad that I get to stay with such nice people. Maybe I can come again soon?

Monday 26th January 2009
Today I went home with HJ, it was juct like last week when I got to go home with JJ (that's his brother!). I got to play on Mario Kart this time (on the Wii) - it was great fun but really hard to hold the wheel as I only have small arms! HJ told me that I was a very good rider and that made me happy, I am lucky to have such nice friends.
The night got better and better as we had beef curry for tea which is my favourite! Even better than that was doing sums with HJ and JJ after tea, they really love their maths!
We all bruched our teeth and climbed into our beds for a cosy night in the warm. I wonder how long iot will be until I come again?

Tuesday 27th January 2009
I had the chance to go home with JR today, she was really kind to me and she took me to see her ponies. They were really big and I was a little scared but she looked after me really kindly. When we got home me, JR, SR and SR played lots of games - its very confusing having too SR's and it took along time to work out which one was which!
We had a lovely tea which made me really warm inside and then we brushed our teeth and went to bed, ready for a new school day. I hope I can come and see the ponies again soon.

Wednesday 28th January 2009
Today I went home with WA, he is really kind and looked after me well. We played lots of games including Horrid Henry and Cars - I really liked cars and wanted to play it again but it was time for tea. After tea we played some more games with his sister LA before we went to bed.
I had a wonderful time and hope that I can come back again soon.

Thursday 29th January 2009
Today my friend LW wanted to take me home for tea but it was very confusing because he was going for his tea at HJ and JJ's house! It was so exciting we played on the Wii again (I really love playing on the Wii but it does make me very tired) before we had tea.
Then we were off again to LW's house to play with his cat Socks before it was off to bed, which was lucky because I was reall tired. I hope I can come and see Socks again soon.

Friday 30th, Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February 2009
My friend EJ wanted to take me home for the weekend and has been talking about it all week - she must be very lucky as she got her chance. We had such a fun time - we played snap on her daddies Ipod, we played Guitar Hero (daddy played and we sang) and we also played with SJ (she is my little friend in school). All this was on the first day!
On Saturday we went with Nanna and Taido to see Great-Nanna, she was very kind and I liked her alot. We also played with some friends of EJ's that live close to her house and on Sunday we had honey on toast and hot chocolate before we went to bed ready for school on Monday.
I had such a busy weekend I hope it's not too long before I can come a visit again.

Monday 2nd February 2009
I had to wait along time but I got to go home with my friend AW today, he has been promising me that I could and now I can! We had a super time playing Fireman Sam and then his mummy made us a Teddy Bears Picnic and we sat and had juice and biscuits with all AW's other teddy friends.
We were definately ready for bed by then and sleep all through the night. I can wait to come a visit all my teddy friends again soon.

Tuesday 3rd February 2009
My friend JE took me home tonight and guess what ... she lives with my old friend JE too! Not only that but these was snow everywhere and daddy said that he would take us sledging. I have never been before and it looked scary by JE was really brave and slide all the way down this big hill on a plastic tray! I had a go too and it was so much fun as the wind blew through my fur.
We got really cold but we didn't mind as we were having so much fun but we were very glad to get home for tea, before we knew it we were in bed ready to sleep.
I wish it would snow again when I go to see JE next time, I had the best time. Thank you.

Wednesday 4th February 2009
Well you wouldn't believe it but I went home again with my friend EJ, you wait 3 weeks to visit someone and then you get the chance twice in one week! I was really happy that I got to go tonight as EJ took me swimming and my other friend SR was there watchiong, We had a great time and EJ is an excellent swimmer.
We went home and had a lovely tea and then we played a bit more before we went to bed and EJ read me some stories.
I had a wonderful time, thank you for having me to stay again!

Thursday 5th February 2009
Its getting very busy now with all this visiting, I was back with my friend WA tonight and we had such a great time. We first went to visit some lovely friends of WA who were very kind to me and then we had a super tea, which was lucky because I was really hungry.
After tea we played dressing up with WA and his little sister LA and then we were really tired so it was off to bed for a sleep.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6th, 7th and 8th February 2009
Another weekend and, as if by magic, another weekend to spend with my friend LT! I hope that we can be playing Thomas alot (I think we will as I know how much he likes him!).
We had an awesome time. We played lots of games and ate lots of lovely foods. LT was really happay to have another friend to play trains with and we watched some great cartoons. Lt and JT also took me for a drive around the living room in our favourite yellow truck. He is a very careful driver and I felt very safe.

Tuesday 10th February 2009
I felt much better today soit was back to school to see all my friends. Tonight I went home with JE and it was a special night because we were going to stay at Bam Bam's house - she looks alot like Jackie from school!
We had a lovely stew for tea which I really liked although I was a bit naughty and tried to take JE's! Sorry.
We read some books and played some games andthen it was off to bed.

Wednesday 11th February 2009
FE took me home tonught and I was very glad because his daddy has promised to take us to MacDonalds for tea! I hope Mr Jones won't mind - he is very proud of his healthy school! I had chicken nuggets and chips and so did FE, they were lovely - thank you daddy.
When we got home we read our school book and FE and DE let me have a play on the drums. It was excellent!
I also found a letter from Mr Jones and I was so happy to see that FE and his family will be looking after some of our foreign friends when they come over at the end of the month. They are such kind peopel - maybe I can come again when they are here?
We were so tired after that we slept right through the night.

Thursday 12th February 2009
Today I went home with JR and our friend HG came too! We had great fun playing doctors and we got to see the horses - I didn't have a go as I am a bit scared still of them.
After HG went home we had a lovely tea and I got to play with JR, SR and SR (it is still very confusing!) before it was time for bed. Only one day of school left before the holiday.

HALF TERM: I though that I would spend a week with Mr Sharp for half term as I have not seen him, or Mrs Sharp in a long while ... I wonder what we will do?

Friday 13th February 2009
When we got home Mr Sharp said that I could have a bath before tea but I got a bit confused and ended up in the sink with all my clothes! Mr Sharp helped me to get my clothes into the washing machine and then I had a nice bath with lots of bubbles and I dried myself off on the radiator - which was really nice and warm. After tea (I had pizza and garlic bread!) we sorted out my clothes (I didn't realise I had so much!) and then it was off to bed. I am really tired now and can't wait to see what we are doing tomorrow!

Saturday 14th February 2009
Today it is valentines day and I had made Mrs Sharp a card to say tank you very much for having me to stay for the week. After a lovely breakfast we went to Wrexham to have a look in the shops but the really cool bit was on teh way back when we stopped to get petrol and Mr Sharp decided that we should take the car through te car wash as it had got really dirty! Its a really big shower for a car and it looked a bit scary, especially when Mrs Sharp said that we had to stay inside the car while it was being washed! I sat on the dashboard and watched and it was so much fun!
After tea we watched 'Titanic' which is one of Mrs Sharps favourite films and then it was off to bed - it was such a fun day and I had a dream about taking my own car through a car wash!

Sunday 15th February 2009
Today we had a bit of a lazy day and we sat and watched telly. I got to watch a really cool programme called Ben 10 and Mr Sharp and me played Ben 10 afterwards too! Later on I helped Mrs Sharp make lamb for tea and then we played on the Wii on Guitar Hero - Mrs Sharp is much better that Mr Sharp!
Its been a really nice lazy day today, I wonder what we will do tomorrow?

Monday 16th - Sunday 22nd February 2009
The rest of the week was such a blur, we spent alot of time making me some new clothes and shopping! (Mrs Sharp really likes to shop) and we made some lovely meals. The only sad part was when the camera broke and we could not take any more pictures! Nevermind I had a great time and I got my camera working just in time to return to school and see all my friends. I have really missed them!

Monday 23rd February 2009
Tonight I was back with my friends from school, SR said I could go to her house which was very nice of her. We had such a great time. I got to ride on the bus and then we climbed up a tree, I think I should be more careful as I fell down and hurt my foot. SR was very nice to me and took me in for tea. Then it was off to be, what a busy day! Thank you SR.

Tuesday 24th February 2009
IPW took me home tonight and we had an awesome time. He has a house full of wonderful animals and I think Mr and Mrs Sharp are glad they are not here as there are snakes and spiders (they are scared of them!). I also got to meet a new welsh bear called Lolo, he was great fun to play with!
We had a really long sleep (which was good as I was really tired) and then we had chocolate moons for breakfast! Thank you IPW!

Today is my birthday, I am 4 today! The children gave me a real surprise and put on a lovely party for me. We had party food and played party games, we sang songs and we had so much fun. I think the photos say it best so I have put the link below to view them!

Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2009
Well today is an exciting but sad day for me. I am going home again with my friend SR but this will be the last time I can as SR is going to Mrs Browns' class after Easter. We had such a wonderful time playing games and seeing the family again. We played on the Wii and enjoyed lots of foods. It was really nice to have one last visit with my friend SR and they said they would come to visit me in Class 1 - I just hope they don't forget.
Thank you SR and family for always looking after me with such care and love. I will miss you and your hugs!

Monday 30th March 2009
I can't believe it, its another exciting but sad day for me. EJ is taking me home today and on the way I was telling them that SR is leaving the class and they said that EJ is too! I can't believe I am losing my two best friends in the same week! Its always nice to spend time with EJ and little SJ and we played lots of games and had lots of cuddles. I also got to see EJ playing Guitar Hero with daddy. They are very good - I wonder if there is a CD I can buy?
Thank you EJ and family for looking after me and I hope that I will be back soon and SJ will still be in Class 1. You have always been really kind to me and I will miss you all.

Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April 2009
Now I am really in shock! On Tuesday JJ got to take me home and that always makes me happy as I can play with both JJ and HJ as they live together (they are twins!) but I was so sad to hear that they are following SR and EJ to Mrs Browns' Class. Will there be anyone left in Class 1 for me to play with? We had such a great time! We played in with JJ's model plane and then it was time for tea - then we had a huge adventure. I took the plane for a quick spin and found myself lost in the woods, I had to make a bow and arrow because I didn't know if I was ever going to get home! Thankfully JJ, HJ and Millie found me. I was really scared. Then the next day we played some safe games in the house and had tea.
I was really gald I had a last visit with JJ and HJ and hope that they look after SR and EJ in Mrs Browns' Class - I think I will lock the door to Class 1 so no-one else will leave me!
Thank JJ, HJ and family for all your kindness to me. I have always enjoyed coming to stay and will miss you. Please come back and see me soon.

EASTER 2009
I have decided to have some time to myself this Easter. I might even go on holiday! Keep and eye out for me and see where I might be!
